Airfix B-26 K (conversiòn)
Hello to all, this is an very old project, made in an era that many of us hardly remember and the young´s can´t imagine, the time with no Internet, not info available, few pictures, less kits, no resins... few paints... and in my country absolutely almost none kits!
I´m talking about 20 or maybe more years ago!
In this time, I really wanna have one B-26 K, one of my favourites airplanes of all the eras, in all it´s versions, I buy one to an old man, and Airfix B-26, the ONLY kit in this time, with the half of the decals, and without the clear parts for the Korean version.
I start dreaming, and decide to make an B-26 K!
My first "hard" work in a kit, my first conversion, my first, cowl flaps open, propellers modified, collect the decals... etc etc.
I need to make the auxiliary fuel tanks for the wing tips, the antenae, the pylons, lights etc.
After all this hard work, I ended with this!
In this time, one of the few I saw, and in this country... I belive the ONLY one.
I got to use some parts from other kits.
Fortunatelly Hasegawa just make one of they still good armament boxes.
I use needles to make the .50
Fortunatelly I can work the propellers to the right shape! (or something like)
Transfers for the codes
Open cowl flaps and antennae scratch
Wing tip tank and light scratch
I cut with an cutter the pilots hatch!
Walks ways (like the rest of the plane) brush paint with GUNZE!!! (first time I see Gunze! the red line is paint decal from a water decal for a car! (big Wynn´s decal)
Pylons from scratch, wheels from an spare B-25 Italeri...
One of theMOST beautifull plane of all times!
It have many mistakes, and loose some antenaes, probably is NOT accurate... but still looks like an B-26 K! and I really love it! as soon as I put the Italeri together, I decide wich one I like most!
And another B 26 waiting it´s time, I like to make it in Korea, but unfortunatelly comes without one half of the glasss nose!
Hope all of you like this post!
Best regards
Henry
